The past weekend (6 – 7 October 2012) the Wellington Lions Club provided some assistance at the Engen Dynamic Cycle Challenge at Nelsons Creek Wine Estate just outside Wellington.
A total of 7 Lions were involved in managing 50 marshals during the event. Tasks included parking assistance, security and route marshalling on the 3 routes.
The road event is one of the top international events on the cycling calendar and Sunday’s race saw the biggest field yet assembled with around 218 professional riders lining up on the starting line to take part in the 94km race. A total of around 2300 cyclist took part in the various races throughout the weekend.
Our thanks to the Wellington Lions members and the Lukhanyo Youth Development Organisation for providing the marshals and helping the Wellington Lions Club raise some much needed funds which will be used to do what the Lions do best, help and improve their community.
